With the False Colors album, Brian brings cohesion and power to a set of style-varied songs. The thumping opening of Caloris Basin propels you into the album, while title track, False Colors, swirls around your head with ambient noise and an almost-tribal beat. The ominous synthesizer of Black Ring floats seamlessly into the straight-ahead indie pop of Screens. And the closing song, Motion Action, pulls all of the elements together, with its driving bass and drums, pulsing guitar, and a soaring vocal melody that carries you right back to the start.
